Happy Spring, friends.
What a magical time of year this is, with days growing longer and warmer, with flowers blooming and examples of change and growth happening all around us.
We have a tendency to associate this time of year with spring cleaning. Images of decluttered cabinets and thoughtfully pared down closets dance through our heads. We create lists to ensure every nook and cranny of our house get a fresh start.
All of this is amazing and ...
Do not forget your house HOUSE.
You know, your body.
Spring is an amazing time to reset your system after a winter of heavier meals and hunkering down, and especially after this winter where we all seemed to be snowed in and one time or another. A great tool for this reset is green juices and smoothies.
I know this may sound intimidating for some but ... I promise you The Glowing Green Goddess Smoothie from Elizabeth Rider is delicious and relatively easy to make. My friend, fellow yogi and owner of possibly my favorite store in Fort Worth The Jean Guru, Elma Davis, turned me onto this recipe and, well, it is too good not to share. And try.
2 cups baby spinach (about 2 large handfuls)
4-5 large leaves of romaine lettuce
2 small pears, cored and chopped
1 small ripe banana, peeled
2 tablespoons avocado
2 tablespoons ground flax seeds
1 cup coconut water (or substitute purified water)
1 cup ice (about 10 ice cubes)
And by all means, please pass along your favorite smoothie recipes.
Swimsuit season is around the corner, and we are all in this together.
