We had to travel to Thailand for work.
Really, we did.
The factory turning Victoria's designs into reality is in Bangkok. Original samples, while awesome, were not exactly as she intended. So after FaceTiming and tweets and texts failed, flights were booked and bags were packed. And what a journey this has been so far.
Day 1: After meetings at the factory, we partook in traditional Thai lunch, Singhas at the Mandarin Oriental, window shopping and rose tea at the Shangri-La.
Day 2: We had a chance to go to the Bangkok Gem and Jewelry Show. Of course, there are no coincidences. Because of this, we were able to spend the entire day walking aisles and aisles to find the perfect chain and stone vendors, packaging and display for YOU. And the not coincidences kept coming because at dinner Took fate brought a jewelry engineer to our table. He came up with the most incredible concept on a closing mechanism for the jewelry. This person also manufactures for high-end designers, one in particular she is a HUGE fan of. Big, big steps forward. We will meet with him in New York once we return to the states to begin implementing this potentially patentable product in our next round of designs.
Day 3: We got absolutely nothing accomplished, but there were a lot of laughs and sometimes you just need days like that.
Day 4: The day started with a dip in the pool and included city touring and souvenir shopping. And then came the really fun part. We received updated samples (awesome) and placed a production order.
Day 5: We found paradise and it's name is Krabi. This country inspires us. A friend of mine who lives in Kuala Lumpur suggested a couple of hotels to check out in Krabi. We arrived at the first one she suggested, The Sheraton. Of the 2 hotels in Krabi, this was by far our favorite, mostly due to their great service, but also because it was footsteps from the beach and the gorgeous setting sun.
Day 6: We spent the day island hopping--snorkeling and swimming with striped, polka dot and rainbow iridescent fish, then off to the next island where we climbed a big rock out on the water. We took lots of Wishing Well photos, and also got a bit of a sunburn.
We have loved having y'all with us.
And can't wait to share what the next week brings.
